They use rhetorical questions, large text, pictures with the text linking to it, name checks, adding colour schemes, exclamation mark which adds further shock to stay.
2) What are the connotations of the Heat colour scheme on this particular front cover?
The connotes Drama as HEAT is suggested to be a gossip magazine as a lot of the time on the cover you will see celebrities and scandals all linked to them.
3) How are images used to create interest in the magazine? Find three reasons for your answer. (E.g. paparazzi images or aspects of mise-en-scene such props, costume, make-up, body position, facial expression etc.)
The paparazzi images in the front cover reinforces the magazine being about drama and gossip, the example of a pack shot is the actual product being shown and promoting the products which also reinforces the stereotype that females enjoy shopping as its mostly female products.
4) What differences can you find between the use of design and typography between Tatler and Heat? List at least three differences and explain the effect on audiences.
In the HEAT magazine it is mostly in sans serif which reinforces drama and gossip as its more modern and bold however in the Tatler magazine it mostly has serif which is a traditional, established, authority which reinforces the magazine being more higher class and established.

Most of them are painted to be the bad guy and represented very negatively however some are positive.
3) How are women represented on the cover of Heat? Think about both images and cover lines here.
I think the women are represented as sneaky, liars and victims however one woman was represented well and was praised for winning a show called big brother.
4) How do Heat and Tatler represent social class? What different social classes can you find in the features and celebrities on the cover? (E.g. middle/upper class / working class)
I think for the HEAT magazine the social class isn't low however middle to low class people buy it as its not too expensive and include a lot of gossip which is interesting to them. The Tatler magazine is more for the higher class people who are interested in fashion etc.
