Read the About Us page of the Times website and answer the following questions:

1) What year was The Times founded and when did it start using the Times name?
The Times was founded in 1785 making it Britain oldest newspaper, it was also named Britain's most trustworthy newspaper.
 
2) What content did John Walter suggest the paper would offer in the first edition?
In the first edition of The Daily Universal Register (later The Times) on January 1, 1785, John Walter I intended the paper to act as a "faithful recorder of every species of intelligence".
3) What does the page say about the political views in The Times? 
The Times is generally considered a centre-right, "newspaper of record" in the UK, although it features diverse political perspectives among its columnists and has historically supported different parties. Notably, the publication did not endorse a party in the 2024 general election, following a shift away from its previous support for the Conservatives.

The times is owned by news UK which is a subsidiary for news Corp the mass conglomerate owned by Rupert Murdoch.

The Times (London) was frequently highlighted for its successful digital subscription model. In 2018, it was recognized as a leading example of a "publisher pushing hard on digital subscriptions" and moving away from reliance on advertising-funded content.

The newspaper pledges to abide by IPSO rules, handling complaints efficiently (aiming for resolution within 28 days).

  Reception theory: blog task Create a new blogpost called 'Reception theory'. 1) What is the preferred reading of a media text? This is the message or ideology/belief the producers want the audience to believe. 2) What is the oppositional reading of a media text? this is when the consumer takes away an opposite message or belie differently to what the producers intended. Re-watch the trailer for the film Harry Brown: 3) How does the Harry Brown trailer position the audience to respond to the teenage characters in the film? They might think teenagers are disrespectful and get caught up in violence and crime due to the people they surround themselves with or the place and area they have been brought up in. Camera movement and editing: blog tasks

  Blog tasks: 1) Pick  three   aspects of  camera movement  in the Minority Report clip. Identify the  type  of camera movement and write about why the director chose to use that camera movement in the scene and what effect it has on the audience. Zoom: the director might have chosen to put a scene where the camera is zoomed on the protagonist to show his face and his emotional state and what he may be feeling and thinking at the time. It also  exaggerates the intensity of the scene. Tilt: The director has used tilt to show in this case both the "villain" and the "hero" is a different angle which in this case is higher and gives us a larger perspective.
